Mini Camps

    Shine like your favorite pop icon at our Pop Diva Mini Camp! Learn fun, high-energy routines to hit songs from Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, and more. Get creative with pop star-inspired arts and crafts, designing your own accessories to complete your superstar look!

Intensive

Join us for a week of exciting classes at our Summer Intensive. This program features classes taught by SSDE faculty, as well as guest teachers from around the dance industry. Students will train in ballet, jazz, contemporary, pro-style, acro, musical theater and more!

    Hailing from Boston but now based in Los Angeles, Ella Sweeney is a vibrant creative force, driven to share her energy and impactful ideas with the world. Raised in a family of performers, Ella's journey as an entertainer evolved into a deep focus on dance, culminating in her pursuit of a BFA in Commercial Dance at Hussian College. Ella has been featured in Novartis’ Super Bowl Commercial, Rick Astley’s AAA “Never Gonna Give You Up” commercial, Ross Lynch’s “Heart of Mine” music video, and many more industry experiences! Ella's vision is to foster a dance world marked by adaptability, acceptance, inclusivity, and love. She is thrilled about the creative impact she's poised to make on the world.

  • Pat Planet

    Pat is a New York City native who grew up training extensively with some of the industry’s leading choreographers and educators at the Broadway Dance Center and the Alvin Ailey school. By the age of 17 he began dancing professionally for TV, commercials, and live stage performances.He has taught at universities like the Boston Conservatory at Berklee, Tufts University, and Endicott College – currently, he teaches open classes at The Dance Complex and The Boston Dance Studios. If you’re a big sports fan, you’ve likely seen some of his work! Pat has choreographed for teams in the NBA, NFL, IFL, EHL, and other collegiate dance teams. In 2022 Pat landed the role of a lifetime, debuting as one of the first males to become an NBA Boston Celtics Dancer.  Additional credits include Law and Order, Britney Spears, TEDx, Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance with Somebody (2022), AMF, and more. 

  • Brett Bell

    Brett Bell received his formal education as a dance major from The Boston Arts Academy, a performing arts high school in the city of Boston, MA. Post graduation, he has worked with artists such as Meghan McCaffrey, Angie Conte, Urbanity Dance, nathantrice/RITUALS, Jeryl Palana, Sheryl Pollard-Thomas and William McLaughlin. His professional teaching experience has put him on faculty with The Boston Arts Academy, K & M Studio, The Dance Academy of SP, and Shannon O’Brien School of Dance. In addition, Brett has been a guest artist with the Earl Mosley Summer Institute of the Arts and Deborah Mason Performing Arts Center. Brett’s innovative, dynamic choreography has earned many choreography awards at regional and national competitions. Brett is currently performing his own work under his own company, Bell and Co.

  • Erika Haydon

    Erika Haydon has many years of teaching experience and extensive knowledge in all forms of dance at both recreational and competitive levels. She holds a B.A. in Dance from Dean College, where she was a member of the Dean Dance Company for four years. She has also been certified by the prestigious Acrobatics Arts. Her choreography has been recognized and awarded on both regional and national levels. Most recently, she was awarded the Al Gilbert Tap Award. Erika brings high energy, passion and creativity to all of her classes. Students of hers have gone on to achieve great success in many different facets of performing. She hopes, through her love and knowledge of dance, to motivate and inspire all of her students.

  • Catherine Piazza

    Catherine trained at Northern Ballet School in Manchester, England, before embarking on a global performing career as Dance Captain and Lead Dancer on Carnival Cruise Lines under the direction of George Reich, Joan Palethorpe, and Minnie Madden. After an extensive career in performance, Catherine utilized her associate in pedagogy and transitioned into teaching in New York before spending the past decade instructing at multiple studios on the South Shore. She currently serves as the Chair of the Dance Department at South Shore Conservatory, passionate about dance education, and specializing in Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) and pointe work. Catherine also teaches literacy through movement and music in the Brockton and Rockland school districts and is a registered Music Together Instructor.

  • Mikayla Souza

    Mikayla Souza grew up training and competing throughout the Greater Boston area. She holds a degree in Theatre and Dance from Keene State College, where she had the privilege of working with esteemed professors and guest artists in modern, ballet, and West African dance, participating in American College Dance Festival, and instructing an afterschool modern dance program for young dancers. In addition to her studies, Mikayla also enjoyed performing and competing hip hop and jazz routines both locally and nationally as a dancer and executive board member of the Keene State College Dance Team. Her training as a classical percussionist also contributes to her love and understanding of tap dance. Mikayla has been a dance instructor and choreographer in various styles for the past twenty years. Her pieces have consistently received prestigious recognition at competitions, including earning several Outstanding Choreography and Industry Dance awards. Mikayla loves working on faculty and as a guest artist at studios throughout the Greater Boston area!

  • Tess Driscoll

    Tess grew up dancing at Dance Workshop of Hanover where she studied ballet, contemporary, jazz, hip hop, & acro. She performed on the competition team, the Nutcracker, recitals, & other local shows. She went to several summer intensive programs, including José Mateo Ballet Theatre. This spring, she will be graduating with a double major in Contemporary Dance & Contemporary Music from Eugene Lang College at the New School in NYC. At Lang, she studied ballet, contemporary and choreography, in addition to taking classes at Broadway Dance Center, Steps on Broadway, Peridance & more. Over the past four years, Tess performed at New York Live Arts in pieces choreographed by Rebecca Stenn, Beth Gill, Stacey Spence, and other guest artists in residence. Right now, she is working on her senior thesis project in contemporary dance, combining her own remixed music and choreography with a self-directed accompanying video. Tess also participated in the I Have a Dream Program, teaching dance to public school students in Harlem & Chelsea. She currently teaches ballet, conditioning & lyrical classes at Tyler Brown Dance Center. Tess is passionate about blending technique with artistry, helping kids feel the rewards of their hard work. She aims to make dancing as fun as it is challenging, and create a safe space for experimentation and expression.

  • Jenn Rogerson

    Jenn is the head coach of the Varsity Dance Team at Hanover High School. She grew up dancing and competing at Insync Center of the Arts in Quincy. She was on the Weymouth High School Dance Team and served as captain her senior year and competed twice at NDA Nationals with Bridgewater State University’s hip hop team as the team’s captain in college. Jenn is a fifth-grade teacher with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Special Education, but enjoys coaching dance in her time away from the classroom. Jenn specializes in high school and college dance team style pom, jazz and hip hop technique and choreography. She is looking forward to working with the dancers this summer at SSDE to perfect their dance-team-style skills!
